Angela Polcyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with a background including a Master of Science in Thanatology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her professional journey is deeply informed by her extensive background in Hospice care, where she served as a Bereavement Coordinator for several major health systems. This foundational experience in end-of-life care including acute and traumatic grief has shaped her into a clinician who is comfortable navigating the heaviest aspects of the human experience, including profound loss, trauma, PTSD and existential distress.
Angela integrates a blend of evidence-based modalities and philosophical frameworks. She is EMDR, DBT, CPT, and IFS informed, allowing her to address trauma from a cognitive, neurological and a "parts-work" perspective. By combining these tools, she helps clients process deep-seated trauma while fostering a compassionate understanding of their internal, relational and physical landscapes.
Angela works with adults 18 and up providing individual one on one counseling. Her overarching therapeutic philosophy is built on a trauma-informed, existential, and relational-cultural approach. Rather than simply treating symptoms, Angela focuses on the "why" of human suffering, emphasizing the importance of agency, meaning-making, and the power of the therapeutic relationship. This approach is both inclusive and expansive and views healing as a collaborative process, recognizing that personal growth is inextricably linked to how we relate to ourselves, our history, our culture, and the world around us.
