Dr. James Grace's fascination with the human body as "the ultimate machine" led him to physical therapy, driven by a desire to help people through meaningful work. After completing his education and clinical training, he encountered many patients with persistent and perplexing pain that didn't respond to conventional therapy approaches.
This challenge coincided with revolutionary advances in pain science. Technological breakthroughs, coupled with interdisciplinary collaboration between neurobiologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and physical therapists, led to better understanding of pain mechanisms and treatment. Dr. Grace immersed himself in this emerging field, studying scientific literature, attending specialized courses, and developing expertise in helping people with intractable chronic pain.
Dr. Grace graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's of Exercise and Sports Science (BESS)/Pre-Physical Therapy from Texas State University, followed by a Master's of Science in Physical Therapy (MSPT) and a transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from A.T. Still University. He completed a residency in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and earned Manual Physical Therapy Certification (MPTC). He has been a board-certified orthopaedic specialist (OCS) since 2011, with over 14 years of experience treating chronic pain, and has guest lectured on pain science at major universities.
