Meghan Buckner
Clinical Therapist, Social Worker, Intensive Retreat Program
My approach to therapy is to identify the parts of yourself that are causing you distress and to work to understand them through a loving and non judgmental lens. Utilizing interventions such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) we will work to understand and appreciate all parts of you and begin to understand the coping mechanisms that are still in place that are no longer serving you.

Many individuals that I work with have experienced some form of trauma and also carry a great deal of shame. I utilize a variety of trauma interventions which we will discuss and together decide the approach we feel is best. Examples of these interventions are Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) as well as IFS therapy
My approach to therapy is very effective with individuals in recovery from Substance Use Disorders, those who would like to improve their self esteem, self acceptance and self awareness, and anyone who is burdened with shame. Trauma work is heavy and it is hard work. I try to make the experience as comfortable as possible and we will go at your pace and prioritize honoring your individuality and your nervous system.
Self determination is an incredibly important part of therapy, meaning your goals, decisions and actions are your own. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey to help you achieve whatever your goals may be.
I graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with my Masters in Social Work, and did my internship in Tanzania at an AIDS clinic. I have had the good fortune to live in Honduras and Sydney Australia as well. It is through these experiences that I have come to understand that while each of us is unique we are all connected and need many of the same things. I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two kids, and our dog Honeybee.
